Your estimate
Estimates only — verify important figures with official sources.
How it works
In exclusive mode, VAT is the amount times the rate and the final price is the sum. In inclusive mode, the base amount is the inclusive price divided by (1 + rate), and VAT is the difference.
Formula
Exclusive: VAT = amount × rate · Final = amount + VAT
Inclusive: Base = amount ÷ (1 + rate) · VAT = amount − Base
Example calculation
- ৳1,000 before VAT at 15% → final ≈ ৳1,150
- ৳1,150 including VAT at 15% → base ≈ ৳1,000, VAT ≈ ৳150
Important notes
- The default rate of 15% is the standard rate; reduced and zero rates exist for many items.
- Rounding in real invoices can differ slightly from this estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions
The standard VAT rate is 15%, though reduced and zero rates apply to many goods and services. The rate is configurable in the calculator because it varies by product.
Exclusive means the price you enter is before VAT — VAT is added on top. Inclusive means the price already includes VAT — the calculator works backwards to find the base amount and the VAT portion.
Choose the inclusive mode. The base amount is the inclusive price divided by (1 + rate), and the VAT is the difference.
Select the inclusive mode with a 15% rate. The base price is the inclusive amount divided by 1.15 and the VAT is the difference — the calculator does both steps for you.
VAT results are estimates. Actual VAT charged depends on the applicable rate for the specific goods or services.
